Mr.Agarwal has been in Uganda for over 24 years and is a specialist entrepreneur both on international and national level in the IT industry, coupled by a number of other business ventures he manages.
His experience and exceptional managerial abilities and concepts have led SCI (U) Ltd/NCR to be the leading IT Company in Uganda.
He is currently the President, AMCHAM Uganda.
As of 16th October 2013, he has been appointed as Honorary Consul of the Republic of the Philippines in Kampala.
Ms. Meg Hilbert Jaquay
Vice President of the Board
Ms. Jaquay has functioned as a Senior Professional Project Manager in various capacities since 1987. Possessing a Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering from Boston University and a Masters in Business Administration from San Jose State University, she began her career in the Silicon Valley. Her international career includes work in Asia, Europe, and now Africa. In Uganda, she uses her passion as a “foodie” and an efficiency expert to bring new products and product lines to the Jakana Foods family of products. Her goal is to internationalize the flavors that Ugandan farmers have to offer. Ms. Jaquay currently serves as the Vice President of the AmCham Uganda Board.
Mr. Vinnie Payne
Chairman, ICT Subcommittee
Mr. Vinnie Payne is an Internet technology entrepreneur who relocated to Africa several years ago. His focus is bringing modern and innovative solutions and technology to Uganda. He is a board member of the Rotary Club of Kololo and has served in various positions at the Club and District level, such as District Webmaster for Rotary District 9211. He acts as Secretary on the steering committee of the Overseas Security Advisory Council. He is currently the Director of Client Relations and Business Development for Sombha Solutions Store.
Before moving to Africa, Vinnie was the Asset Manager and Executive Technical Support for Time Warner Corporate in Manhattan. He has also served in the US Navy on a nuclear submarine, performed at Carnegie Hall and climbed to the peak of Mt Kilimanjaro.
Chairman, Subcommittee on New Business Opportunities
John is the Managing Partner of Amani Partners, a boutique corporate advisory firm providing professional services to the East African market. With offices in Dar es Salaam, Mauritius, and Kampala, the company works within the private sector, bridging the gap between investors and clients looking to grow and expand their firms. The primary services include Corporate Advisory (including raising capital), Shariah Advisory, and Asset Management. Prior to Amani Partners, he started his own firm, Capitol Food Ventures, which offered a similar set of services for the food and agriculture industry. He has also worked for the Overseas Private Investment Corporation and USAID’s Development Credit Authority, managing assets upwards of $100M. He earned a dual MBA/MA from the George Washington University School of Business and Elliott School of International Affairs specializing in international finance and economic policy. He also holds a BA in Agricultural Economics and Statistics from the University of California at Davis.
|Omar Farooq promotes U.S. business interests and increased bilateral trade between the United States and Uganda as the Economic and Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Kampala, Uganda. Omar joined the United States Foreign Service in 2010, with assignments as a political/economic officer in Harare, Zimbabwe (2010-2012) and vice consul in Hyderabad, India (2013-2015).
Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Omar was a Mining Engineer from 2005-2009.Omar has a Bachelor’s in Mining Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He is married with one child.

Michelle Conrey joined the AmCham board in May, 2016 and is a seasoned business professional with over 15 years of experience in Finance, Strategy and Business Development. She is currently the Managing Director for Impact Africa Capital Partners, a firm founded to make positive health, social, economic or environmental impact in East Africa through for-profit investments in debt, private equity and other private investment vehicles. From 2011 – 2015, Michelle led global mergers and acquisitions at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. During her tenure Michelle was responsible for executing transactions totaling in excess of $10 Billion. Previous roles included leading Oncology Portfolio and Asset Strategy for Bristol Myers Squibb (2008-2011), heading up Corporate Development for a privately held biotech, NexGenix Pharmaceuticals (2006-2008), biotech Management Consulting related to corporate finance, M&A and business development (2003-2006), and leading investor relations for publicly traded biotech company, Adherex Technologies (2001-2003). Michelle holds a bachelor of Science in Biology from Canada’s Carleton University, and her Masters in Business Administration from Duke University’s Global Executive Program. Michelle also has completed the Canadian Securities Course with honors.
Chairman, Subcommittee of Membership and Finance
Robert is a Ugandan living in Uganda and married with two children (boy and a girl). He has been with Citibank since 1999 and has a wealth of Product and Operations knowledge and experience, garnered primarily in Africa and in the Middle East.
Robert joined Citibank Uganda in July 1999 in the Cash Operations, moved on to head Cash Management Operations and thereafter became the Treasury and Trade Operations Head in 2001. He was the Senior Branch Operations Officer in Citi Uganda from November 2003 to December 2006, where he managed multiple operational activities. He was later appointed the Senior Country Operations Officer for Citibank Uganda in January 2007, a position he held until December 2010. Thereafter he became the Senior Country Operations Officer for Citibank N.A Kuwait in January 2011. In all these roles, Robert built customer centric, strong and efficient teams, maintained a strong control environment, implemented several process improvement initiatives working closely with business partners.
In July 2013, Robert returned home and was appointed to head the Treasury & Trade Solutions business for Citibank Uganda Ltd. His experience, product and leadership skills have been instrumental as Citi Uganda continues to expand its country footprint and deliver high standards of service to its customers. He also serves as an executive director on the Citibank Uganda board of directors and represents Citi Uganda on the American Chamber of Commerce (Uganda Chapter) board.
Robert holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and is a member of the Association of Chartered Accountants, UK
